On a bright sunny day in the middle of August, I was delighted to be the assistant photographer at the wedding of Roopa & Keval. Their Indian wedding ceremony and reception event was held at The Grove – a five-star hotel with spa set in 300 acres of Hertfordshire countryside.
The weather forecast had been decidedly dodgy all week, so everyone was very relieved when the sun began to shine making plans to hold the wedding ceremony outside possible. Keval’s arrival on a red Ferrari immediately preceded a short welcoming ceremony and Milni in which male members of both families exchanged garlands of flowers, danced and (for some of the younger members) indulged in a spot of friendly inter-family wrestling!
While all this was happening out front, Roopa was preparing herself for the walk down the pathway lined on either side with fir trees and leading to a sunken garden in which the mandap had been constructed. At the end the of path, a few stone steps lead down steep grassy banks that surround the garden forming an amphitheatre and perfect vantage point for observing the ceremony.
