2015 – A Year in Review

It’s something of a personal journey for me, to see just how far passion and a little hard work can take me. I don’t really have a long term goal, but what I do want is to be able to stand in front of you at this time each year and be able to tell you, my friends and supporters, that I believe I’m a better photographer than I was twelve months ago.

Richard Feynman, the late Nobel Laureate in physics once said “If you think you understand quantum mechanics, you don’t understand quantum mechanics”. Sometimes, the more you learn about a subject, the more you realise there is to learn. And so it is with photography. To be really, really good is so much harder than you can possibly imagine. At least I feel I’m on the bus and on my way. 🙂

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great people. I’ve done some personal projects (not enough of those), some fashion, portraits, and a load of weddings. Art needs an audience and I really can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am to all of you who have encouraged and supported me during the year. I get terribly nervous about sharing my work on social media and all creatives bear their souls a little when doing this. On behalf of all creatives out there, if you like what you see, please let us know.

In particular, I just want to mention a few people… firstly my gorgeous and patient wife Jayshri, without who’s support and understanding I wouldn’t be photographing anything. Secondly, my buddy and mentor Samir Arun. Sam first took me on a couple of weddings in 2014. It was great fun, but I felt like I was tagging along a bit and not really contributing much. In 2015 though, it’s felt much more like we’ve been working as a team. His understanding, encouragement and expertise have been a major factors in my development as a photographer. I’d also just like to thank Swedish fine art photographer Hanna Wallsten whose friendship and encouragement has really helped me stay enthusiastic at all times. Finally, I’d like to thank all those lovely couples that allowed me the privilege of sharing their special day with them.

The images below are a few of my favourites from 2015. They’re not necessarily the best technically, but for one reason or another, mean something to me.

Thank you once again and I will try my best to create some great images for you in 2016.
